David’s Victory a Type of Messiah’s Victory

headNow then bring it about; for the LORD has promised David, saying, ‘By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel from the hand of the Philistines, and from the hand of all their enemies.’” 2Sam. 3:18

The Philistines stand in typology as the enemies of David and the Israelites representing the antitype of the spirit enemies of Messiah and the Congregation.

For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Eph. 6:12  (c.f. Rom. 8:38; Eph. 3:10; Col. 1:16; Col. 2:15)

And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying, “Now the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God and the authority of his Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren has been thrown down, who accuses them day and night before our God. Rev. 12:10

Messiah’s authority to win this battle is a given.

Behold, I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you. Luke 10:19

. . . then the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Rom. 16:20

. . . to the praise of his glorious grace which he freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. Eph. 1:6

7  In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace 8 which he lavished upon us. Eph. 1:7

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Cor. 15:57

Although Satan was defeated at the cross, he still afflicts God’s people, just as David defeated the Philistines, yet they continued from time to time to afflict God’s people. It was not until Hezekiah that the Philistines were finally defeated. (See Also: Philistia Who?)

He smote the Philistines as far as Gaza and its territory, from watchtower to fortified city. 2Kings 18:8

So Satan will not be defeated till he is thrown into the lake of fire.

. . . and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulphur where the beast and the false prophet were, and they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Rev. 20:10

Typologies in the Scriptures

Typological prophecy is one of the hardest literary devices to recognize. Once recognized, it is difficult to comprehend and explain.

FYI: Once the principles of typology are understood, there is a great danger in seeing typologies everywhere, even where it is unwarranted.

Typology in the Old Testament shadows, prefigures, or elucidates something in the New Testament. In theological discussions of typology, this is called a type (Old Testament) and antitype (New Testament).

The type is in the Old Testament as a historical event or instruction that prefigures the antitype. The New Testament finds the fulfillment of the type, hence it is the antitype. As such, it demonstrates the unity of both Old and New Testaments.

To the Dispensationalist or literal interpreter of the Bible, the natural reality of the earthly is all important;  the natural works great in the historical narratives in the Bible. However, it often misses the spiritual and typological meanings that were clearly intended.

Dispensationalists, with their literal interpretation claims, are so taken up with the earthly reality that they are missing the great spiritual meanings.

They place ever more significance on Israel and its temple, priesthood, and sacrifices. They declare that God will bring about an earthly Jewish type millennium and establish Israelite rule over world. However, the Bible clearly states that the tribulation saints will rule (Rev. 20:4.) They teach that all nations will be forced to perform those ancient rituals of the Temple in Jerusalem. These are among the Jewish myths Paul warned us about.

. . . instead of giving heed to Jewish myths or to commands of men who reject the truth. Titus 1:14

These teachers indeed have the”spirit of error,”

We are of God. Whoever knows God listens to us, and he who is not of God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 1John 4:6

These Dispensationalists see an earthly throne in an earthly city. This literal interpretation disregards the plainly presented typology of David’s Throne and Solomon’s Temple. They wish to re-enslave themselves to the shadow/type, instead of enjoying the freedom of the antitype which is a spiritual Kingdom.

21   Tell me, you who desire to be under law, do you not hear the law?  22 For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by a slave and one by a free woman.  23 But the son of the slave was born according to the flesh, the son of the free woman through promise.  24 Now this is an allegory: these women are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children for slavery; she is Hagar.  25 Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children.  26 But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.  27 For it is written, “Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear; break forth and shout, you who are not in travail; for the children of the desolate one are many more than the children of her that is married.”  28 Now we, brethren, like Isaac, are children of promise.  29 But as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so it is now.  30 But what does the scripture say? “Cast out the slave and her son; for the son of the slave shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.”  31 So, brethren, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman. Gal. 4:21-31

13   These all died in faith, not having received what was promised, but having seen it and greeted it from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.  14 For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland.  15 If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return.  16 But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city. Heb. 11:13-16

The Kingdom is clearly a spiritual one, it cannot be shaken by either wars or earthquakes.

22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to innumerable angels in festal gathering, 24 and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks more graciously than the blood of Abel. Heb. 12:22-24

Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe; Heb. 12:28

The present unseen spiritual Kingdom is the eternal and only Kingdom.

GILL, THOMAS H. – The Papal Drama, A Historical Essay – London 1866

In his Introduction he states.

Now and then in private life and personal character a Gregory, an Urban, a Clement, an Innocent, a Boniface, a Benedict, a Pius and a Celestine have been not un-meetly named; but as a body these loftily designated sovereigns of the Roman Church  have by no means transcended in mercy, beneficence and godliness the Henries, Edwards, Charleses and Fredericks of this world. There has been no dearth of reckless Gregories, brawling Urbans, ruthless Clements, harmful Innocents, and Benedicts of anything but blessed memory; there has been more than one malefactor Boniface, more than one ungodly Pius and more than one earthly-minded Celestine. This pretension to transcend, and this failure to reach ordinary human virtue, form the great peculiarity of the papal dynasty, and the chief strangeness of the papal story.

Blood Moons Hoax 2

Dear John;John Haggi

I can no longer be your “girl.”

The last of the “Four Blood Moons” was seen last night. So far, nothing very significant has happened. Would you please be more specific?

If you say you are sorry for misleading me and won’t do it again, I will forgive you. I do love you and think your heart was in the right place. I just don’t know where your head was!

We do both have this in common, we both love The Lord, know He is sovereign, and expect His return to Jerusalem.

However, we seem to have two too many moons and one solar eclipse that only polar bears could witness!

The signs of implosion were all over the place, John. The most often use of the sun, moon and stars in the Bible are as literal objects to give light and to mark the seasons.

Thou hast made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting. Psa. 104:19

The celestial objects do obey the Lord.

Then spoke Joshua to the LORD in the day when the LORD gave the Amorites over to the men of Israel; and he said in the sight of Israel,  “Sun, stand thou still at Gibeon, and thou Moon in the valley of Aijalon.” Josh. 10:12

And, significantly, they are also used in visions, dreams and prophecy as a symbol.

Then he dreamed another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said, “Behold, I have dreamed another dream; and behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” Gen. 37:9

Yes, the magi were led by a star. Scholars believe because Daniel the prophet knew the year of Messiah’s birth and death (Dan. 9; 490 years from the rebuilding of Jerusalem and the Temple) his students, and fellow Magi knew as well. It would be a (not so simple for me) mathematical calculation that they would be looking for a certain star to be in a certain place.

“Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the East, and have come to worship him.”  Matt. 2:2

But John, your math doesn’t add up!

The Bible uses blood moon four times, two are about the day of Pentecost. Pentecost is about The Day of The Lord.  That means, John, it is not about the tribulation or the second coming. See Also: Last Days

The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the great and terrible day of the LORD comes. Joel 2:31

but this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:

‘And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;

yea, and on my menservants and my maidservants in those days I will pour out my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.

And I will show wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth beneath, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;

the sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and manifest day. Acts 2:16-20

The descending of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost was the subject of this prophecy; not trouble in Israel; not the beginning of a tribulation; not the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. I need for you to acknowledge your inattention to proper interpretation of scripture, and your down-right sloppiness.

That leaves only two Blood Moons left. Your theory is wanting.

Wasn’t part of the idea of the Four Blood Moons that the sun will become dark? Did that happen in any of the Four Blood Moons to date? Oh it did, off a little-bitty island between Greenland and Norway. Not seen in Israel; not reported widely. How can this be a portend? If we cannot see the event, as the Church or even in Israel, how are God’s people “warned.”

It is a Biblical truth that The Lord will return. He told us so. He said we would not know the day or the hour. And while it is entirely plausible that His glorious return will coincide with the fall Feasts, we have no idea which year.

Being wrong about predictions involving scripture deeply hurts our credibility in the eyes of unbelievers. It disappoints and wounds Christians who sincerely want to follow Jesus. It will cause some to deeply question  if everything you teach is just as wrong!

To the other of John’s girls, you are to show yourself approved too. So, find a good Bible study pal and start working. No excuses!

Sincerely Yours,

Bible Girl

This is a Historicist Blog

Our goal is to restore the Historical Protestant Interpretation of prophecy with special attention to the books of Daniel and The Revelation.

If you have been sitting in Church for years terrified about The Rapture, a Seven Year Tribulation, or a One-World Anti-Christ, this is your blog site. We will take the anxiety out of “end-times” prophecies. Our posts will clearly explain what the Bible actually says, and what it doesn’t say about future events.

Our Hermeneutics (rules of interpretation) adhere to the history, grammar and context of the passage as it was intended by Daniel and John.

We will not tell you what we feel. We will explain prophecies using sound logic and the tried and true rule of comparing Scripture to Scripture. It is imperative to understand correctly what is future and what has been fulfilled since the prophecies were recorded.

First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, 2Pet. 1:20

Anti christ is the 12th Imam?

wolf in sheep's clothing 2or so some Futurists Interpreters of the Bible have now begun to teach, (for they have an ever changing rule of interpretation that lets them imagine what ever they feel like is the meaning of the text.)

The 12th Imam

Muhammad ibn Hasan al-Mahdī was to the Twelver Shī‘a Muslims, a Mahdi or “guided one” born 869 and disappeared in 941. The twelfth Mahdi is supposed to be ultimate savior and is prophesied to emerge with Isa (Jesus) to bring world peace.

Sunni Islam and other minority Shias believe that the Mahdi has not yet been born.

A New False Teaching in the Church

There is a problem with this as with all other Futurists speculation, it ignores what the Bible actually says about the antichrist.

Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour. 1John 2:18

The Lord’s Day

I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet Rev. 1:10

right_handThe first commentary I ever read on The Revelation, went to great lengths to explain that, “The Lord’s Day” was Sunday the first day of the week. The second commentary I read went to equally great lengths to explain that it was the seventh day of the week or the Sabbath.

After many years of study it has occurred to me that these attitudes are born on both sides of anti-Jewish sentiment, and general ignorance of the Torah. For the rather obvious truth is that it is Yom Kippur/The Day of Atonement, which can fall on any day of the week. The reasons for this are plain as day.

First, the Lord presents Himself as the Ancient of Days with the right and power to judge. [Dan. 7:9; Rev. 1:14]

Second, the seven church’s for whom the letter was intended are warned of their short comings. [Rev 2-3]

Third, There are 24 elders all dressed as High Priests on Yom Kippur. They are wearing white and have golden crown and golden censors. [Lev. 8:9; Lev. 16:4, 12 Rev. 4:4; Rev. 5:8]

The rest of the book is about God’s judgements, on those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life and those who is not. [Deut. 29:20; Dan. 12:1; Rev. 20:15; 21:27]

The entire book is one great call to get right with God for today is the day of salvation, today is Yom Kippur/the Day or Atonement. Its point is, that it is always Yom Kippur before the throne. The final sacrifice has been made. The way to the throne is open to all on this day, and it is always this day before the throne.

However at the end of the day, the offer of Salvation will be withdrawn, the gates will be closed, and there will be those left outside. [Rev. 22:15]

Psalm 22:29-31

second-coming2Because the RSV really goofed the translation we are going to switch here to the KJV.

29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship:

all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him:

and none can keep alive his own soul.

30 A seed shall serve him;

it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born,

that he hath done this.

Being fat has for most of the earth’s history been a sign of prosperity, as food was not alway easy to come by before the industrialization of farming. Here the point is that death is the great equalizer, one cannot secure ones position in the afterlife with wealth or poverty in this life. In the end no one will escape from having to worship the Lord. All will bow either willingly or grudgingly.

. . . that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, Phil. 2:10

A seed shall serve him, this is meant that only a few shall serve the Lord. It is not “their seed” for service to God, for it is not secured by birth but rather by obedience. It is not “The Seed” for that would reverence Messiah, and the first part of this Psalm was about His work, this is about our response. It is not “many seeds” for true believers are never many.

. . . knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you are serving the Lord Christ. Col. 3:24

Those that serve the Lord are His generation.

Then we thy people, the flock of thy pasture, will give thanks to thee for ever; from generation to generation we will recount thy praise. Psa. 79:13

And that has been reckoned to him as righteousness from generation to generation for ever. Psa. 106:31

His great work on the cross that brought salvation to the who-so-ever wills and not just to the physical descendants of Abraham must be proclaimed to the people who are not yet born. Every generation must repeat the tale, we must tell the story of Messiah, from generation to generation.

For the work He promised, is done, it is finished, He kept the promise, there is no more that can be done. We must simple trust.

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. John 19:30
